The 5-9 Gordon Avenue development is a testament to innovative architectural design and environmentally conscious construction. This ambitious mixed-use building project marks a significant advancement in sustainable urban design, thoughtfully integrating residential, commercial, and retail spaces within a single, cohesive environment. The development is designed to create a vibrant community hub that enhances the lifestyle and convenience for its residents and visitors, while promoting sustainability and modern living.
BFS has been entrusted with the critical role of designing and implementing the fire protection systems for the Gordon Avenue project, ensuring the safety and security of all occupants. Our scope of work includes both wet and dry fire protection systems, meticulously planned to meet the highest safety standards and the specific needs of a mixed-use development.
The combined hydrant/sprinkler wet fire system designed in accordance with AS 2118.6:2012 is a robust and reliable fire protection solution, designed to provide comprehensive coverage across the entire development. This system features two large-capacity water tanks that ensure an ample supply of water is readily available in case of a fire emergency. These tanks are strategically placed to maximize efficiency and response time, ensuring that water can be delivered quickly to all parts of the building.
To maintain consistent water pressure and ensure the system's readiness at all times, the design includes one high-capacity electrical pump, one diesel pump, and a jacking pump. The electrical pump serves as the primary means of water delivery, offering reliable operation under normal conditions. The diesel pump provides a crucial backup, ensuring that the system remains fully operational even during power outages or other disruptions to the electrical supply. This dual-pump configuration ensures redundancy and enhances the system’s reliability.
To further enhance the system's reliability, a dedicated diesel fuel tank has been integrated into the design. This tank significantly enlarges the fuel capacity, allowing the diesel pump to operate for extended periods during emergencies. This is particularly important for long-duration fire events or scenarios where access to external fuel supplies may be limited. By incorporating this feature, the system is better equipped to handle prolonged fire incidents, providing continuous fire protection and ensuring the safety of building occupants.
Overall, this advanced wet fire system design provides a highly reliable and efficient fire protection solution, combining multiple redundancies and safety features to meet the demanding needs of a mixed-use development. It reflects BFS's commitment to delivering state-of-the-art fire protection systems that prioritize safety, reliability, and compliance with the highest industry standards.
The design complies with AS 1670.1: 2018. The development will be outfitted with state-of-the-art fire detection and alarm systems, incorporating high-sensitivity smoke and heat detectors. These advanced detectors are designed to quickly identify potential fire hazards, providing early warning signals that are crucial for the safety of all building occupants. By detecting smoke and heat at the earliest stages, the system can activate alarms promptly, giving everyone ample time to respond and evacuate safely.
Integrated Emergency Communication: In addition to detection capabilities, the fire alarm systems will feature sophisticated communication tools that provide clear and immediate instructions during an emergency. These communication features are essential for directing occupants quickly and efficiently, ensuring a swift and organized evacuation. This reduces confusion and panic, significantly minimizing safety risks and enhancing the overall effectiveness of the emergency response.
